Hooded skunks are omnivorous, feeding primarily on insects (beetles, grasshoppers, larvae), small vertebrates (lizards, rodents), and plant material including roots, fruits, and cacti, with seasonal emphasis on available prey.

Atferd

Primarily nocturnal and crepuscular foragers that move deliberately across terrain while searching for food; solitary except during breeding season, with males occupying larger home ranges than females.
